Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. I have only slipped away into the next room. Destiny has her own problems, her own life, and her own stories to tell.Īnd with that, her first story grew so large that I had to split it into three books. But as I was taking notes, I realized that was wrong. So of course Destiny sprang immediately to mind.Īt first, her story was going to simply (ha ha!) be MIDNIGHT from her 15 year old point of view. That's how the second Midnight story was born (also told from Sami's viewpoint, as are all the Midnight stories (but one)).īut then about two years ago around this time, I couldn't take the poking and prodding any longer and gave in to friends' and muse demands that I try my hand at Young Adult fiction. I had a clear as day image of her (Destiny) standing on the outcropping at Cumberland Gap, looking into Virginia, the wind caught in her hair. (view spoiler) [As I was thinking on the original ending of MIDNIGHT, I got to thinking about Sami's daughter as an adult.
